"Thank you to all the staff at Oakridge School for always going the extra mile to get to know our ‘serious’ boy and making him enjoy learning, while pushing him to reach his full potential. We are very grateful for all your efforts.”

Jo Hayes, KS1 Class Teacher

I came to work at Oakridge School in 2001 to cover a maternity leave and never left as I loved it so much! I have three children, which helps me be a better teacher as I have an understanding of what it is to be a parent. I am passionate about the environment and like to find ways to teach the curriculum outside whenever possible. Research has shown that children learn more when they are smiling and I strongly believe that if children feel safe and happy they will learn and remember more. Therefore I make sure that I know every child well so that I can create a classroom environment that nurtures them. Children are all different and these differences should be celebrated and grown, creating confident individuals.

Rachael Modaley, KS2 Class Teacher

I started working at Oakridge Parochial School in 2016 as Y3/4/5/6 teacher, after leading a whole school art project based on the school’s values. As an advocate of the creative curriculum, which came with me from my last school in Surrey, I am a firm believer in involving children in their learning, using their interests to inform planning and equipping them with skills so that they become independent, life-long learners. I have responsibility for safeguarding, DT, choir and am a governor. I love learning new things and I hope this enthusiasm rubs off on the children and those around me. I spend most of my time when not in school with my teenage daughter who keeps me busy! I enjoy pilates, cooking and playing the piano.

Diana Chapman, KS1 Teaching Assistant

My main role is to help the Reception children settle into school life, however, I also have a lot of input with years one and two. The children really do thrive in Oakridge's small learning environment and it is lovely to see them progress so well. I feel privileged to be part of a happy friendly team at Oakridge.

Claire Eatwell, Teaching Assistant and Midday Supervisor

I am enjoying being part of the team at Oakridge Parochial School. To support the children in such beautiful surroundings is very rewarding. Everyone works together to have a great experience at school.

Caroline Shelley, KS2 HLTA/Teacher

I work in Class Two as class teacher on a Wednesday and in a HLTA role on a Thursday and Friday morning. I feel very lucky to be part of Oakridge, which is such a caring and friendly school in a beautiful location.

Having taken a gap from teaching to have my three children, I am delighted to be back in the classroom supporting the children of Oakridge on their individual learning journeys.

Carolyn Westerby, School Administrator

My family has a long connection with the school as I am an ex-pupil, as are my mum and my three children. I also took over the role of School Administrator from my mum who retired after 34 years! The best thing about being at Oakridge is seeing the children grow and develop their learning and skills.

Paul Winder, HLTA

Having worked in education for 21 years, as a teacher, I decided to retire with having worked at  Oakridge School for the last four years. However, within months I realised that I missed this lovely school, the children and staff. I soon asked if I could return and luckily I have got to work on Wednesdays as a HLTA and here I am.

Sandy Bryson, ICT Technician

I have been working at Oakridge school for a number of years, taking care of all the computers and ICT equipment. I also spend time with the children helping them to improve their ICT skills on a Thursday afternoon. I always look forward to my time at Oakridge School because the staff and pupils are always so warm and friendly, and everyone always has a smile on their face!
