“Carolyn was my first impression of Oakridge School many years ago and that has stayed with me. The smile she greets everyone with in the mornings and always a helpful hand at the ready.”

We are committed to providing a high-quality education in science, which in turn provides the foundations for understanding the world around us. We make the most of our amazing countryside setting to help the children develop observational skills, scientific curiosity and an awareness of the environment. The children are encouraged to make observations and comparisons, hypothesise and test ideas and to provide possible solutions.

As children progress through the school, they explore a range of scientific areas and themes, including plants, animals, habitats, everyday materials and their uses, seasonal changes, light, sound, electricity, Earth and space, forces and evolution.

We make the most of our rural setting by taking learning outdoors and throughout the year all classes take part in Forest School days and activities off site at our allotment, where we work in partnership with parents and families to share expertise and experiences.
