History

“Mrs Hayes is the perfect teacher! She knows how to en courage, be patient, inspire and yet not overload! Her work with the choir has been truly appreciated.”

By using their own history and experience as a starting point, we aim to give our children the opportunity to develop an awareness of the past, an understanding of how and why things change, and how events shape the present and future. Children learn how to use appropriate vocabulary, gain an understanding of chronology and use resources such as historical artefacts, books and photographs.

We have a strong link with Stroud Museum with access to experts and artefacts to support our work. The children study
a range of historical topics and people, in a way that creates links with other aspects of learning. Trips to places of historical significance and themed days such as the Greek day we held recently only serve to enhance the children’s understanding of the past.
