Updates for Term 5

Whole Class Music Tuition for KS2

On Monday 8th April pupils in KS2 will have the opportunity to learn the violin. Mrs Wheeler from Gloucestershire Music will come into school each Monday for 10 weeks to teach the whole class.  Gloucestershire Music will also supply violins for the class to use.

Public Speaking Competition

On Friday 12th April year 9 pupils from Thomas Keble will be coming into school to judge some of our KS2 pupils in public speaking.

If your child would like to take part they need to prepare a short speech (no longer than 5 minutes) on a topic of their choice. The following sets out what the judging panel will look for and discuss when making their final decisions:

  • The information included and its originality
  • The interest and enthusiasm of the speaker
  •  Clarity and pace
  •  Interest and audience engagement

Chance to Shine – Cricket Coaching for KS2

On Thursday afternoons, during term 5, KS2 will be receiving cricket coaching as part of the Chance to Shine programme. KS2 pupils will therefore need their PE kit in school on a Thursday afternoon.

KS1 visit to Westonbirt Arboretum – Thursday 18th April.

On Thursday 18th April, instead of visiting Bisley School for forest schools, KS1 from Oakridge and Class 1 from Bisley will be visiting Westonbirt Arboretum.  Further details will be sent out at the start of term 5.

Experience Pentecost – Monday 20th May

The Open the Book team are planning an event called Experience Pentecost on the afternoon of Monday 20th May.  They are looking for 5 or 6 parent helpers to man the various stations with members of the Open the Book team.  If you are able to help, please inform Carolyn in the school office as soon as possible.
