The children in Y5 and Y6 have just returned from five days of activities at Culmington Manor in Shropshire.

Dear Parents

Culmington Manor

The children in Y5 and Y6 have just returned from five days of activities at Culmington Manor in Shropshire. I was fortunate enough to visit them for one day and I was very impressed in all they were doing. I asked the children to give some feedback. Monty said he liked the maze most because it was dark, wet and he liked getting lost!  As well as the activities, the food was enjoyed by all and we all agreed that the nectarines were a particular favourite.

A special thanks to all those who supported this event from both Oakridge , Bisley and Miserden. From Bisley, thank you to Mrs Morley, Mrs Whalley, Mr Aslett (Gabriel’s dad) and Miss Edwards who led the visit so well. From Oakridge thank you to Mrs Modaley and from Miserden thank you to Mr Stinchcombe.

Mrs Modaley said that it was lovely to see the great team work and children making new friendships. We all felt that the trip was a huge success and would love to go again.

Whole school play

On Monday evening we were entertained by all the children with the play ‘Goodbye My Friend’. I was so impressed in the way all the children performed. Children you made your parents and staff very proud, well done! Thank you again to you all for supporting your children and to the staff who under the leadership of Mrs Modaley led the children so well.

Thank you

As we are now almost at the end of this school year I’d firstly like to recognise those who are leaving. Firstly to our Y6’s. Thank you to Alex, Amelia, Anouska, Frankie, Joly, Laurie and Monty.  You all have been great leaders for the school. As you move onto your new secondary schools you should feel proud of all you done at Oakridge and take many amazing memories with you. We will remember you and for the good times you had at Oakridge.

To the staff that are leaving. To Ro, Rosie’s daughter who is moving to a new job at Birdlip Primary School. To Mrs Gray who has made a monumental impact to the SEND work at both Bisley and Oakridge. We wish you well as you take on your senior teacher role at North Cerney Primary School. We wish Rosie the very best as she leaves Bisley after 5 years. Thank you to all the hard work you have done over these years and the impact you have had not just on a one to one basis but in many children’s lives.

And finally to me. It has been a true joy to lead such wonderful schools filled by so many committed, happy and capable children and adults. Whether you are a parent, governor, teacher, support staff member, child or governor together you all have made my time at Bisley and Oakridge schools truly memorable and most importantly enjoyable. Thank you for your support, I truly appreciate it.

I wish you all the very best for the future.

David Williams
