Should it be necessary to close school due to bad weather

Dear Parents

School Closure

Should it be necessary to close school due to bad weather, notice of closure will be posted on our school website www.oakridgeschool.org.uk as well as on the Gloucestershire Closed Schools website

https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/closures/

The closure system will also automatically update the twitter feed @Glos_schools, where you can subscribe to text alerts.

School Uniform

As you are aware the Trutex Uniform Shop will be closing around 10th December.  The supply of our school uniform will be taken over by Bateman Sports Limited, Kendrick Street, Stroud.

Guitar and Ukulele Tuition

Unfortunately, unless more pupils wish to take up guitar or ukulele lessons, we will be unable to carry on offering  tuition after Christmas.  At the moment only 2 pupils have lessons and this is not viable for either the music teacher or school.  The cost for tuition is £75.00 for a block of 10 lessons over two terms (one ‘old’ term).  If your child is interested in lessons please see Carolyn for more information.

Parent Survey – November 2018

Key Strengths Oakridge

Out of the 16 questions 15 scored  80% or more as strongly agreed or agreed

Parents liked the small classes, nurturing approach, creative curriculum, friendly caring and approachable,  the teaching, topics, 1:1 learning.

From September 2018 they liked priorities set as cohesion and strong leadership, leadership is moving in the right direction and sensible leadership steps are being taken.

Areas to develop at Oakridge

Better communication, more after school clubs, longer notice for events, more electronic updates, challenge for more able.

As a result of this survey we will

  • Ensure all feedback is noted and where improvements can be made action is taken
  • Increase communication to parents via e-mail - please ensure up to date e-mail addresses are on record in school.  If you would like to be added to our e-mail communication group please let Carolyn know.
  • Endeavour to get letters requesting money out as early as possible
  • Ensure the good feedback to parents at parents’ evening is maintained as well as regular links between parents and teacher
