Dear Parents,
Remembrance commemoration
Last Sunday children from each class in Oakridge took part in a very powerful event. When we arrived on Sunday morning there were 23 boots lined up outside the school. This was the number of men that left the village to fight in the Great War but sadly never came back.
The children walked silently in pairs down to the church carrying their boots. The congregation lined the path to greet them and acknowledge the symbolic act they were undertaking. The boots were left at the front of the church for all to see and remained a constant reminder throughout the service.
The children also attended the exhibition in the village hall on Monday morning.
Sheep in school
As part of the Diocese of Gloucester vision for church schools in Gloucestershire to feel part of the wider diocese and Christian family we have the pleasure of a model life size sheep with us in school for nearly 2 weeks. The sheep has already joined us for morning worship as well as taking part in every school activities. We will be adding some photographs onto the sheep's body and writing a diary as a way to remember his time with us at Oakridge.
Parents' evenings
Thank you for supporting your child through the recent parents' evenings. It was an important opportunity for us to share with you the progress of your child. Please continue to maintain close contact with your child's teacher.
Parent survey
Thank you for completing the parent questionnaires. I will be reviewing the information and give you feedback shortly.
Updated policies
The following policies have been updated and are now available on the school website.

Dates
On the back of this newsletter are a list of the forth coming dates between now and Christmas and beyond.
Please note that the children will be putting on an end of term performance in the village hall during week beginning 15th July. Date tbc. We look forward to it but I will ensure that we maintain a proper balance in term 6 between taught curriculum time and preparations for the performance.
