Class 2 Newsletter Term 2

Welcome back!

Welcome back!  I hope you and your children had a relaxing break over the half term holiday. It was certainly very busy for Class 2 in the first term with Art week and our camping trip to Copsegrove. Thank you again to all our lovely parents for their help with this trip (and my glamping experience!) and also to Claire Hill for teaching the children sewing skills to make a fabulous patchwork quilt during Art week.

Continuing with our Tribes cross-curricular topic we will be focusing more on the geography front as we travel from North America to Mongolia and the Arctic. In English, we have an exciting text ‘Sky Song’ by Abi Elphinstone; some of you will remember we went to see her at the Cheltenham Literature Festival two years ago. She is an excellent writer.  The topic will be ignited with ‘The Eagle Huntress’ which is a wonderful award winning documentary about a 13 year old Mongolian girl who trains an eagle. We will also look at Remembrance Sunday and the significance of the poppy and Christmas.

Just a quick reminder about homework, please can you encourage your child to have their homework in school by each Tuesday. Below is an outline again to remind you.  Spellings are handed out on a weekly basis together with a spelling activity from the spelling workbook.
