Newsletter 2 Oct 18

It has been really good getting to know you all at Oakridge.

Dear Parents,

It has been really good getting to know you all at Oakridge. As each day goes past I am finding out more and more about the great things that go on at Oakridge School.

Race for Life

Thank you for all your efforts last Friday for ‘Race For Life’. It was an amazing experience  for children from Miserden, Bisley and  Oakridge to work together for such an important charity. The effort shown by your children was a huge credit to you. I will let you know a total as soon as I can. Photographs are available from https://perranjames.shootproof.com/raceforlife2018

At the beginning and end of day please remember to park considerately  outside school. Please avoid parking on the corners of junctions or where you may obstruct a neighbour’s drive. Thank you for your support.

We discourage the wearing of jewellery at  school including charity and friendship bands. If your child for a particular reason still wishes to wear a wrist band, please limit it to one only. Necklaces and rings shouldn't be worn at all because of the danger of injury during playtimes or PE.

Purple Learner

We have introduced a new behavioural reward system in Class 2. It has a primary focus of high expectations on good behavior leading good learning. We are still at the very early stages of it and already it is having a very positive impact. We shall review it next term. Any feedback from parents would be good.

Services in the  Church

We have two services coming up soon. Firstly there will be a Harvest Festival in the church on Sunday 14th October at 9.30 am. I will be there and it would be lovely to see as many of you as possible joining us for this event.

Following on from the letter about the WW1 commemoration event. It is taking place on Sunday 11th November beginning at 9.30 am. In my previous letter to you I outlined that the church is looking for children from Oakridge  School to walk down from the school  in boots to remember those that fought in the Great War. Please let me know if you’d like your child to take part.

School Closures

With the changes brought in by GDPR we are no longer able to operate the parents’ ring round tree.  In future all school closures will be posted on our school website as well as on the Gloucestershire Closed Schools website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/closedschools.

Thank you to all the children and staff for making it a really special time.  The children had a great time.  It was lovely to see them taking part in the various activities and making camp fires.  Class 2 pupils are preparing a display which should be completed ready for our Open Day on Wednesday 17th October.
