Commemoration Weekend

A weekend of commemoration for the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War

A Weekend of Commemoration for the 100th Anniversary of the End of the First World War - 10th and 11th November

Over the weekend there will be an exhibition in the Village Hall by the History Group showing the results of their researches into the lives of the Oakridge men who went to war.

On the Saturday afternoon, also in the Village Hall, there will be a community gathering with songs, music, poetry, art and drama.

On Sunday 11th November there will be a special Remembrance service at St Bartholomew’s church.  The PCC have invited the children from Oakridge School to join in this event by walking down to the church at 9.30am in boots leaving their boots at the door to commemorate the 23 Oakridge men who fell in the war.

The 100th Anniversary of the end of the First World War is an important national event.  It would be fantastic to see as many children who are able to support this event attend.

If you wish your child to take part please complete a reply slip available from the school office and return to school before the end of term, Friday 19th October.
