Staffing September 2018

Dear Parents/Carers

Staffing September 2018.

Last week we successfully appointed a HLTA (higher level teaching assistant) to support the learning in Class 2. Amanda Sanders, who is a qualified teacher, has experience of working across all age ranges and in small schools. Amanda really shone during her interview and the children gave excellent feedback about her lesson. We believe she is a real gem and look forward to welcoming her to our school. We plan for her to come to meet with all pupils and staff before the end of term.

It was a difficult decision but the panel did not appoint for the Class 1 teaching position. We want to make sure we appoint a candidate who is right for our pupils and school.  This role will be re-advertised in the new academic year. For the first two terms Class 1 will be taught by Mrs Hayes for three days each week and Mrs Becki Gray for two days. Mrs Gray is a very experienced teacher, knows our school setting well and is a great supporter of the school. She worked at Oakridge providing the maternity cover for Mrs Hayes in Class 1. Her children also attended the school before their move to Cirencester. Again, we are looking forward to her joining our team and will be inviting her into school to meet with pupils and parents over the next few weeks.

We are aware that there have been some questions raised about how Class 2 will work next year and the HLTA role used. The arrangements will be similar to previous years. The HLTA and TA in class will continue to deliver the teachers plans and carry out interventions. The exciting addition for next year is that there will be a higher level of adult to pupil ratio giving the children more attention and support from highly qualified professionals. All staff will work with different groups across the week. This will ensure continuity and opportunity for our children. We hope that Miss Hawkins will be well enough to join us again in September.

If you have any questions about the above please do not hesitate to come in and speak with us. Mrs Modaley, Mrs Hayes and myself will be available to talk to you about any of the changes next Monday 2nd July at 3.15pm.

Oakridge Sports Week.

We are excited about our very first sports week and have a range of exciting events planned for our pupils. An updated timetable of events which includes information about lunches and locations is available from Crolyn in the school office. Keep your fingers crossed that the beautiful weather continues for that week.

From little Oakridge Acorns ………

Last week Thomas Keble held their Year 11 awards ceremony. We were thrilled to hear that so many students in receipt of awards were past pupils from Oakridge (and Bisley). We wish them all the very best for a continued bright future.

Communication from school.

As a reminder, if you would prefer to receive school communication electronically, please provide Carolyn with your email contact details.
