Newsletter 6

Welcome back everyone.

Dear parents / carers

Newsletter 6 – June 2018.

Welcome back everyone. Term 6 promises to be an exciting and fun-packed term with the residential visit, sports events and a performance to look forward to.

It is with sadness that I inform you that Miss Hawkins will not be well enough to be with us for the rest of this academic year. I am certain you join us in sending her our best wishes and look forward to her returning to school in the new academic year. We are pleased that Mr Pizzey has agreed to continue covering as TA in Class 2 for the rest of this term.

Next Thursday 14th June we will be taking photos of the pupils to be used for updating our marketing materials. We kindly request that children come to school in smart uniform (including a tie if they have one) and bring PE kit to get changed into for the afternoon session. If you would prefer for your child / children not to be involved in the photographs please speak with Mrs Westerby by Wednesday.

National Sports Week.

This year we plan to celebrate National Sports Week and are busy organising a range of activities for our pupils to take part in the week beginning Monday 2nd July. Once a final plan has been completed we will send out the diary for the week.

We can confirm that the Sports Day for Oakridge will be on Wednesday 4th July in the afternoon at the Oakridge Playing Field.

Do you have a sporting passion?

As part of a true celebration of all things sporty we are looking for any parents who would be happy to come into school to talk about their achievements. If this is something you could share with our pupils please contact Mrs Westerby or Mrs Kellaway to discuss further.

Public Speaking Competition.

This year we have again taken part in the Public Speaking Competition. Mr Breeze and three Thomas Keble students, two of them past Oakridge pupils, judged the Class 2 pupils who had prepared a short presentation on a subject of their choosing. They were impressed with the high quality of our all pupils and it was a very difficult task to decide two pupils to go through to the final. Frankie and Laurie will represent Oakridge at the inter-school final next Tuesday at Thomas Keble School. We wish them all the very best of luck.

Our Christian Value of the term is FORGIVENESS.

With all best regards

Miss L Austin
