Safer Internet Day

Tuesday 6th February 2018 is ‘Safer Internet Day’.

Dear Parents and carers

Safer Internet Day – Tuesday 6th February 2018

Tuesday 6th February 2018 is ‘Safer Internet Day’.  The purpose of this is to raise awareness to all digital users of the potential of the internet, positive and negative.  It aims to upskill and inform our children in the responsible use of using the internet and the effects it can have if it is used inappropriately.  On the day the children at our school will be doing activities to raise their own awareness of personal information sharing, talking to strangers on the internet and mindfulness of the consequences of their own use.

This is also an opportunity for parents and carers to look at information to inform of the potential of using digital devices and how you can operate Parental control over your child’s use.

Vodafone (in conjunction with Parentzone) produce a magazine called Digital Parenting and more information can be found at http://vodafonedigitalparenting.co.uk/ and https://parentzone.org.uk.

Copies are available free to schools and as soon as we receive ours a copy will be sent home in book bags.  Another useful website is www.childnet.com/parents-and-carers.

If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to ask.

Yours sincerely

Issy Kellaway

ICT Co-ordinator
