Happy New Year to everyone

Dear parents / carers

Newsletter 3  - January 2018

Happy 2018.

Happy New Year to everyone! We hope you all enjoyed the Christmas break and are returning to school feeling relaxed and refreshed. There are some very exciting activities and learning experiences planned for our pupils which we hope you will be able to support us with.

Maths Day at Miserden School.

This academic year the Oakridge staff have been working with teachers from Bisley and Miserden Schools to develop their skills in the teaching of mathematics. As part of this ongoing professional development we have planned a themed maths day for pupils which will be held at Miserden School on Monday 22nd January. The pupils will travel to and from Miserden by coach and will need a packed lunch that day.

PE and swimming.

Our PE and swimming lessons start Friday 12th January. As you are aware these sessions will be taking place at Stratford Park Leisure Centre in Stroud and will run for four weeks. In order to start promptly and make the most of our sessions the coach will need to leave at 8.45am. All pupils will need to be at school at 8.30am in order for registration to take place before we leave.

Science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) event – can you help?

During the first two weeks in Term 4 (weeks beginning 19.02.18 and 26.02.18) we are thrilled to be taking part in a fortnight of STEM events. We are looking for      parents / volunteers who would be able to come into school to share their expertise, enthusiasm and help inspire our learners in these areas of the curriculum.

Clubs during Term 3.

The following afterschool clubs will take place during Term 3.

Cross country

Bisley Playing field

Netball (KS2)

We have been contacted by the Highways Manager for Stroud (north) regarding parking near the school.  They appreciate that parents need to park on the road but have requested that wherever possible, parents park on the straight sections of road and do not park on the bend opposite the school. We would be grateful of your co-operation regarding this matter.

Emergency School Closure.

In the event of emergency school closure the most up to date information will always be found on the Gloucestershire County Council website and also on local radio. In the event of adverse weather conditions we would like to advise that families travel only if safe to do so.

Value of the Term.

This term our Christian value is perseverance.

Finally, all staff would like to say a big thank you for the lovely cards and gifts given in the run up to Christmas. They were very much appreciated.

With all best regards

Miss L Austin
