As we come to the end of a busy and productive first term

Newsletter 3—October 2016

Dear parents

As we come to the end of a busy and productive first term I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents for your ongoing support. The “survival” camping experience and art week were real highlights of this term and we thank all those who came along to help the pupils with their learning during these times.

Class 1.

Mrs Kellaway is still receiving treatment following her operation and will not be back at the start of the next term. Mrs Hayes has provided great continuity and stability by teaching fulltime in term 1. She has agreed to continue the cover in term 2 teaching in class four days each week. On a Friday, Class 1 will be taught by Mr King who for most of this term has been providing planning, preparation and assessment cover across the school. I will keep parents informed of any changes to this plan but in the meantime if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to speak with me.

Class 2 writing competition.

Class 2 have been busy writing gripping adventure stories inspired by their survival experiences at Copsegrove. The Governors have launched a competition for these stories and we look forward to hearing the announcement of the winners early next term.

Morning routine.

Last academic year we asked that in the morning parents say their goodbyes at the front door and leave pupils to come into school by themselves. Our request was aimed at increasing independence in our learners and resulted in a more prompt start to the school day for all.  Morning procedures and the need to sign all visitors in on site was something discussed during a recent fire risk assessment at school. As such we would like to kindly request that pupils come into school by themselves. If you have a need to speak with the class teacher please see Carolyn in the school office who will be happy to pass on a message or arrange a meeting for you.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation with this matter.

Wishing you a restful half term break

Miss L Austin
