We hope you all enjoyed the Christmas break as much as we did and are returning to school feeling relaxed and refreshed.

Happy New Year.

Happy New Year to everyone! We hope you all enjoyed the Christmas break as much as we did and are returning to school feeling relaxed and refreshed.

All staff would like to say a big thank you for the lovely cards and gifts given in the run up to Christmas. They were very much appreciated.

PE and swimming.

Our PE and swimming lessons start next Wednesday 13th January. As you are aware these sessions will be taking place at Stratford Park Leisure Centre in Stroud. In order to start promptly and make the most of our sessions the coach will need to leave 8.45am. All pupils will need to be at school at 8.30am in order for registration to take place before we leave.

PE Plus.

Starting this week, the school will be taking part in a pilot scheme called PE Plus. The scheme will be run for us by Kick off Stroud, which is a local social enterprise that aims to provide opportunities for children to become more active and healthier. The Kick off Stroud coaches will be in school on Thursday afternoons and children from every year group will have opportunities to take part in activities with them during this term including a group of Y5 and Y6 pupils training to be sports leaders. The coaches will arrive for lunchtime and be leading activities for all pupils over this period. As part of the scheme, they will be running a Multi Skills Club after school on Thursday, from 3.00 to 4.00pm. The club will be open to girls and boys in Year 1 & 2. In future terms they will also be providing opportunities for pupils to take part in sporting activities before school starts! More information about this will be sent out nearer the time.

Emergency School Closure.

As in previous years, should it be necessary to close school due to bad weather we will operate our usual ‘ring round’ system whereby one parent (group leader) will ring round the other parents on their list. Please check the list which has been sent home in bookbags and let Carolyn know of any changes to your contact details.

Information about school closures can also be found on the Gloucestershire County Council website and also on local radio.

Our playground / village green has the well-deserved nick-name of Little Siberia. Please can you ensure that your child / children have a coat and wellies in school at all times during the colder winter months.

Can you help?

Both class 1 and class 2 are looking for parent volunteers to come into school to listen to readers. If you can spare one hour each week on a regular basis and are interested in helping us please speak with Miss Wieman or Mrs Kellaway.

Value of the Term.

This term our Christian value is perseverance. An information sheet for families which includes activities which can be done at home in relation to this theme is available from the school office.

World Vision's Syria Appeal

Thank you to everyone who took part in the village walk before Christmas.  We raised £60 for World Vision’s Syria Appeal.  Thank you to the Pupil Council and Aulani who organised it.

Kind regards

Miss L Austin
